Changelog

This page is a running log of meaningful changes to Casual Seek. It is not a list of every typo we fix; it records the changes a returning reader would actually want to know about: pages added or rebuilt, standards raised, policies published. Substantive factual errors are handled separately, on our corrections page. Everything else that changes the site in a way worth noting lands here, with a date.

We keep this log because a site that asks for your trust should show its work, including the unflattering parts. Where an entry below describes fixing something that should not have been wrong in the first place, that is the point of the page, not an accident of it.

August 26, 2026: About page rewritten, old version retired

We replaced the site's About page. The old version described a crew of deal hunters putting products "through their paces," which is not what this site does and never was. The new About page says what Casual Seek actually is: a publisher of cost-and-decision explainers, written under disclosed pen names, that rarely names a product to buy. Writing an accurate About page should not count as an achievement, but publishing an inaccurate one was worth logging.

August 26, 2026: Editorial policy, corrections, and contact pages published

We published the site's policy pack: an editorial policy describing how we research and what we refuse to do, a corrections page with a standing commitment and a public log, and a working contact page with the publisher's real address and email. This changelog is part of the same build. These pages existed on our sister sites first; this site launched without them, and that gap is now closed.

August 26, 2026: Author pages given beats and working-method bios

Each of the site's three writers now has a defined beat and an author page that explains how they research, what they check before publishing, and what they refuse to claim. Mia Collins covers finance and insurance, Kelly Walker covers the home, everyday tech, and automotive costs, and Heather White covers health, lifestyle, and education costs. The bios also state plainly that the bylines are pen names of real writers.

August 26, 2026: Footer rebuilt around the policy pages

The site footer previously linked only the legal boilerplate. It now links the pages a skeptical reader would actually want: About, Contact, Editorial Policy, this changelog, and Corrections.

The log begins with this build. There are no earlier entries because there was no earlier log, and we would rather start an honest record late than backfill a flattering one.
